I welcome appropriate professional enquiries about adults who may be looking for private trauma or EMDR therapy.
This page is for GPs and healthcare professionals, employers and occupational support contacts, solicitors and other professionals considering a referral. I am Genovieve Feasey, a trauma psychotherapist working with adults across Buckinghamshire and Kent. Who I Work With
Trauma and EMDR therapy for adults
My work focuses particularly on adults seeking support around trauma and related difficulties. Depending on the individual, the work may include EMDR, trauma-focused psychotherapy, somatic body psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, DBT-informed work, hypnotherapy and integrative counselling and psychotherapy.
The therapeutic approach is considered according to the individual rather than selected solely from a referral label.
Referrals for Trauma-Related Difficulties
Reasons someone may be referred
A professional may consider contacting me where an adult is looking for private support relating to areas such as:
- Difficult experiences from the past
- PTSD or complex trauma
- Childhood trauma
- Anxiety
- Panic
- Phobias
- Emotional regulation
- Trust and relationship patterns
- Difficult memories
- Responses to reminders or triggers
This list is not diagnostic. A referral enquiry does not determine whether therapy with me will be suitable. That is considered individually.
EMDR Referrals
Referring someone who is interested in EMDR
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is one of the main approaches I use within trauma therapy. A person does not need to arrive knowing whether EMDR is definitely the right approach. Initial conversations and therapy sessions can be used to understand what they would like help with, their current circumstances, their goals, what feels manageable, whether EMDR appears appropriate and whether preparation is needed first.
Referrals From GPs
A straightforward route for private therapy enquiries
If you are a GP or another healthcare professional, you can contact me to ask whether I may be able to support an adult patient privately. Please keep the initial enquiry brief. Useful information may include:
- Your name and role
- Your organisation or practice
- Your professional contact details
- Whether the person knows about and agrees to the referral
- A short reason for making contact
Please do not send a full medical history through the public website form. If further information is needed, an appropriate process can be agreed.
Employers, EAPs and Solicitors
Other professional enquiries
Employers or occupational support contacts may sometimes wish to help an employee access private therapy. Before sending personal information, please ensure the person understands and agrees to the referral, and keep the initial enquiry to practical information rather than detailed health information.
Enquiries from Employee Assistance Programmes, employers and solicitors are welcome by email or telephone. Arrangements for third-party funding, invoicing or any report-writing should be discussed with the practice before they are assumed.
Consent Before Referral
Please make sure the person knows you are contacting me
Where you are referring or enquiring on behalf of another adult, please confirm that they know about the referral and have agreed to appropriate information being shared. The referral form should not be used to send detailed clinical information. Where possible, the person themselves should remain involved in decisions about whether they want therapy.
Confidentiality and Communication After Referral
What happens to information shared by a professional?
Information received through a referral or professional enquiry is handled in accordance with the practice’s confidentiality and privacy procedures. Please do not send highly sensitive clinical documents through an ordinary public website form.
Therapy is confidential. A professional referral does not automatically mean that the referring organisation receives updates about therapy. Any communication with a referring professional must follow the client’s consent, my confidentiality procedures, relevant professional responsibilities and applicable legal requirements.
The Referral Process
Three steps
-
01
Step 1: Send a short professional enquiry
Use the form below with your professional contact information. Please avoid detailed clinical history at this stage.
-
02
Step 2: I review the enquiry
I will review the information provided and respond using your professional contact details.
-
03
Step 3: The next step is agreed
Depending on the enquiry, this may involve asking for clarification, confirming whether the referral appears within scope, asking the prospective client to contact me directly, arranging an initial conversation or explaining that another service may be more appropriate. No therapy relationship is created simply by submitting the form.
Professional Referral Form
Make a professional enquiry
Keep this form short. Submitting an enquiry does not guarantee that I can accept the referral. Availability and suitability need to be considered individually.
Prefer to contact the practice directly?
Telephone 01494 883815 or email contact@thechoicetochange.co.uk. If you are sending an email, please avoid putting unnecessary sensitive clinical information in the subject line. Discreet wording such as “Professional referral enquiry” is enough.

About Genovieve
Genovieve Feasey
I am Genovieve Feasey. My work focuses particularly on trauma and EMDR therapy for adults. I have completed more than 2,000 clinical client hours and work integratively, drawing from different therapeutic approaches according to the person and the work we are doing. I am fully insured.
This is a private therapy practice, not an emergency service
A professional referral form should not be used when someone requires immediate or crisis support. The Choice to Change does not provide emergency mental health care, 24-hour crisis monitoring or an emergency response line. If someone needs urgent support, use the Urgent Help page. If there is immediate danger, use the appropriate emergency service.
Common Questions
Professional referral FAQs
Can a GP refer someone directly to Genovieve?
GPs and other professionals can make an initial enquiry. The person being referred should know about and agree to the referral where appropriate.
What information should I include in a referral?
Keep the first enquiry brief. Include your name, role, organisation, contact details and a short reason for contacting the practice. Do not use the public form to send a detailed trauma or medical history.
Will I receive updates after making a referral?
Not automatically. Therapy is confidential. Any information shared with a referring professional would depend on the client’s consent, Genovieve’s professional procedures and any relevant legal responsibilities.
Does Genovieve accept employer or EAP-funded clients?
Please contact the practice to discuss employer-funded and EAP-funded arrangements before relying on them.
Does Genovieve provide medico-legal reports for solicitors?
A therapy referral from a solicitor is separate from medico-legal assessment or expert-witness work. Please contact the practice to discuss any report-writing before assuming it is available.
