Practice & Legal
Terms & Conditions
The terms that apply when you use this website, and when therapy begins.
These terms cover two things:
- Using this website — what you can expect from it, and its limits.
- The therapy agreement — the practical arrangements that apply if you decide to work with me.
They are written to be read, not to be survived. If anything is unclear, please ask before you book. Nothing here replaces the conversation we will have before therapy begins, and nothing here removes any right you have as a consumer.

Part 1 — Using this website
Who this site belongs to
This website is operated by The Choice to Change, a private psychotherapy practice run by Genovieve Feasey.
Information, not advice
The articles, guides and therapy pages on this site are general information. They are not a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or a substitute for individual clinical assessment.
Reading this site does not create a therapeutic relationship. That begins only when we have both agreed to work together and a first appointment has been arranged.
Not an emergency service
The practice is not an emergency or crisis service, and this website is not monitored around the clock. If you need urgent help, please use the Urgent Help page or contact your GP, NHS 111, or the emergency services.
Links to other websites
Where this site links to another organisation, that link is provided because it may be useful. I do not control those sites and am not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
Copyright
The text and images on this site belong to The Choice to Change unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to share a link to any page. Please do not reproduce substantial parts of the content without asking first.
Part 2 — The therapy agreement
Who therapy is for
Therapy is available to adults aged 18 and over.
You do not need a diagnosis, a referral, or a clear idea of which therapy you want before getting in touch.
Suitability
Not every difficulty is best served by this practice, and not every therapist is the right fit for every person. During the introductory conversation we will consider whether what you are looking for falls within my competence and current capacity.
If it does not, I will say so and, where possible, suggest another route — for example your GP, a specialist service, or a different practitioner. That is not a judgement about you.
The introductory conversation
The first step is a short introductory call, arranged before any therapy begins.
It is a chance to ask questions and decide whether to begin. It is not a therapy session, and there is no obligation to continue afterwards.
Sessions
- Length: 1 hour for individual sessions. Couples and family sessions are booked at a length confirmed when the appointment is arranged.
- Frequency: usually weekly or fortnightly, agreed at the start and reviewed as we go.
- Format: in person in Buckinghamshire or Kent, or online by video.
- Review: we will review how the work is going at agreed intervals rather than waiting until the end.
Fees
Fees are also published on the Fees and Payment page, which is kept up to date.
Trauma therapy / EMDR psychotherapy
£100 per session
Hypnotherapy
£100 per session
Couples / family therapy
£95 per session
Home visit therapy
£120 per session plus travel expenses
Low-income therapy place
£75 per session
Prices are in pounds sterling.
Any change to fees will be discussed in advance, with at least 30 days' notice, and will never apply retrospectively to sessions already booked and paid for.
Low-income places
A small number of reduced-fee places are available at £75 per session. If cost is a barrier, please ask about eligibility when you enquire.
Payment
Payment is by bank transfer (BACS) or cash, and is arranged when the appointment is booked.
Where payment in advance has been agreed, sessions are not confirmed until the balance is settled.
Travel and home visits
Home visits may be available within the London M25 area at £120 per session plus travel expenses. Travel costs and the service area are confirmed before an appointment is arranged.
Cancellations, missed sessions and lateness
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours' notice. With less than 48 hours' notice, the session may still be charged. If you do not attend a booked session without cancelling, it may also be charged.
Where I need to cancel or reschedule, I will give as much notice as possible and you will not be charged. Where practical, an alternative time will be offered.
If you arrive late, the session will usually end at the scheduled time so that the following appointment is not affected. The full fee still applies.
The 48-hour period exists because the time has been reserved for you and is difficult to reallocate at short notice.
Confidentiality
What you bring to therapy is treated as private. There are limited circumstances in which information may need to be shared, including:
- serious concern about your safety or someone else's
- safeguarding responsibilities, including risks to children or vulnerable adults
- a legal requirement, court order, or other disclosure required or permitted by law
- clinical supervision, where only what is necessary is discussed and identifying details are minimised wherever possible
Wherever possible, this will be discussed with you first. The full explanation is in the Privacy & Confidentiality notice.
Records
Brief records are kept to support the work and to meet professional, insurance and legal obligations. They are stored securely and retained for the period required by those obligations.
You can ask what is held about you, and request a copy, under the Privacy & Confidentiality notice.
Online sessions
Online sessions take place by secure video. You are responsible for finding a private space where you will not be overheard, and for a reliable connection where possible.
Please have a local emergency contact and a plan for urgent help, because I cannot provide emergency support during a video session.
If the connection fails, we will try to reconnect. If the session cannot continue, we will agree how to handle the remaining time at the next contact.
Online work is not suitable for everyone, and we can review the format at any point.
Communication between sessions
Email and telephone are for practical arrangements — booking, rescheduling, and brief questions. They are not a therapy channel, and I do not monitor messages outside working hours.
I aim to reply within a few working days. If you need urgent help, please do not wait for a reply; use the Urgent Help page.
Ending therapy
You can end therapy at any time. Where possible, it is helpful to discuss this in a session so the work can be reviewed and brought to a considered close.
If you decide to stop, please let me know before your next appointment so the time can be released. Any balance outstanding remains payable.
I may also suggest ending or referring on if I believe another service would serve you better. I will explain why.
Complaints
If something has gone wrong, please tell me. Most concerns can be resolved by talking them through. The formal route, including timescales and how to escalate to my professional bodies, is set out on the Complaints & Ethics page.
Making a complaint will not affect the standard of care you receive.
Liability
I hold professional indemnity insurance and work within the ethical frameworks of my professional bodies.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated when fees, services, professional requirements or the law change. The version that applies to you is the one in place when the relevant session is booked, and any material change will be discussed before it takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
Not an emergency service
The practice is not an emergency or crisis service, and this website is not monitored around the clock. If you need urgent help, please use the Urgent Help page, contact your GP, call NHS 111, or call 999.
