This notice explains how The Choice to Change collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you visit this website, contact Genovieve Feasey, request a consultation or become a therapy client. It also explains your data-protection rights and how confidentiality works within the therapeutic relationship. Last updated: 20 October 2026.

Information you should not send through a public form
Please avoid including detailed information about trauma experiences, diagnoses, medication, detailed medical history, abuse experiences, criminal proceedings, highly sensitive family matters or another person’s health in a general website form, unless it is specifically requested through an appropriate process.
The public enquiry forms are intended to help arrange contact, not to collect a full clinical history. A brief explanation of what you would like help with is enough.
Why is your information used?
Personal information may be used to:
- Respond to enquiriesTo answer questions and communicate with someone who contacts the practice.
- Arrange consultations and appointmentsTo schedule, confirm, remind, reschedule or cancel appointments.
- Provide therapyWhere someone becomes a client, to provide and manage the therapeutic service.
- Maintain appropriate recordsWhere required for professional, clinical, insurance, safeguarding, accounting or legal purposes.
- Process paymentsTo maintain accurate payment and accounting records.
- Operate and secure the websiteTo maintain website functionality, prevent misuse and investigate security problems.
- Send optional email updatesOnly where you have separately chosen to receive them. Submitting a therapy enquiry or booking a consultation does not add you to a marketing list.
Health and other sensitive information
Information relating to your physical or mental health is classed as special category personal data. It is handled with particular care, and is not collected through the website’s general enquiry forms.
Is what I say in therapy confidential?
Confidentiality is an important part of the therapeutic relationship. Information shared in therapy is treated as private and should only be used or disclosed in accordance with professional, legal and safeguarding responsibilities. There are circumstances where confidentiality may have limits, including:
- Serious concerns about safety
- Safeguarding responsibilities
- Legal requirements
- Court orders
- Other circumstances where disclosure is required or permitted by law or professional obligations
The circumstances and the professional procedure are explained before therapy begins. Clinical supervision is part of responsible practice: if client work is discussed in supervision, only the information that is necessary should be used and identifying information should be minimised wherever possible.
Where information comes from
Most information will be provided directly by you, for example when you complete a website form, telephone, send an email, attend therapy or make a payment. In some situations, information may also come from another person or organisation, such as a referring professional. Where information is obtained from someone else, it is handled in accordance with the applicable privacy requirements.
Website forms
The site may use forms for general enquiries, consultation requests and contact requests. Form submissions are sent by email to the practice and, unless this is switched off, saved in a private area of the website that only administrators can open, so an enquiry is not lost if an email fails. Enquiries can be deleted from there.
Forms are protected against spam without third-party services, and the website does not send what you write in a form to analytics.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies and similar technologies can store or access information on your device. Strictly necessary cookies, for example for security and form operation, may be used without optional tracking. Non-essential analytics or marketing tools, if they are ever added to this site, will only run once you have given consent, and will not receive therapy or health information such as trauma details, diagnoses, form messages, email addresses or telephone numbers.
Marketing emails
You will only receive optional marketing emails where you have given the appropriate consent. Marketing consent is separate from therapy, optional, unticked by default and easy to withdraw. You can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email or by contacting contact@thechoicetochange.co.uk. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect your ability to receive therapy or contact the practice.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and the legal basis being used, you may have rights including:
- AccessTo ask for a copy of personal information held about you.
- CorrectionTo ask for inaccurate or incomplete information to be corrected.
- ErasureIn some circumstances, to ask for personal information to be deleted. This right is not absolute and information may sometimes need to be retained.
- RestrictionIn certain circumstances, to ask for the use of your information to be restricted.
- ObjectionTo object to particular forms of processing.
- Data portabilityIn some circumstances, to receive information in a portable format or ask for it to be transferred.
- Withdrawing consentWhere processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.
Rights can depend on the legal basis and circumstances involved. To make a request, contact contact@thechoicetochange.co.uk.
How to raise a privacy concern
If you have a concern about the way your personal information has been handled, please contact The Choice to Change first so the issue can be reviewed, by email at contact@thechoicetochange.co.uk or by telephone on 01494 883815. You also have the right to raise concerns with the UK data-protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

This website may link to websites operated by other organisations, whose privacy practices are controlled by those organisations. If you interact through services such as Facebook or LinkedIn, those platforms process information under their own privacy terms; please do not send detailed confidential or clinical information through public social-media messages.
The website and the therapy services are directed towards adults.
